Why Aviemore?? Back in January 2007 two Goths from Fife went to visit 2 Goths from Aviemore and we all went out to the local Rock Night at the Vault. We jokingly said “well that’s it then, this is the first official Aviemore Goth Weekend”, had lots to drink and lots of laughs. Then went our separate ways and told lots of people about our fantastic weekend. The response we got was, “we’ll why not have an Aviemore Gothic Weekend for real??” And here we are...

Aviemore Gothic Weekend presents

Midsummer Madness

20th - 22nd June 2008

 Midsummer Madness Masquerade  on 21st June 2008, 8pm - 1am, Cairngorm Hotel, Aviemore. Featuring Scottish Goth/Alternative Bands and DJ's. There will be prizes for the best dressed/best masks and a raffle to raise funds for The Maggies Centre, Inverness.

We are pleased to announce that our first confirmed band is 13 Tombs from Fife www.myspace.com/13tombs

Pubs & Bars

Cafe Mambos - a pretty reasonable bar that does good food during the day, and splendid shots during the night :D

The Old Bridge Inn  Dalfaber Rd, Aviemore, Inverness-Shire, PH22 1PU - a warm little pub by the River Spey, also does good food.

The Cairngorm Hotel - excellent food, and a nice bar. http://www.cairngorm.com/

The Vault - Aviemores only real remaining nightclub, pretty small, is based in a former Bank of Scotland Vault.

RD's - other local nightspot, can get quite busy at weekend. General typical DJing music, but can be an ok place.

The Winking Owl - a fave pub to start an evening in, in that its a cosy wee pub you can actually have a conversation in.

MacKenzies - another local pub bought over by a brewery

The Alt-na-Craig - A notable hive of scum and villainy - you know the kinda place, where you get the craggy faced old fart locals (regardless of age) who go there to drink, play darts, drink, play pool, drink, fight etc.

Dalfaber Golf & Country Club – Not bad, big place. Very good food apparently - Bar meals and a restaurant.

La Taverna - Italiany sorta place.
